Summary/Abstract: This paper is devoted to the study of the translation of stylistic means in a literary text from Russian into French. In our research, we analyze the artistic style of speech and its stylistic means inherent to it, which are not always amenable to literal translation. We identify all possible ways to adequately translate them into French. We come to the conclusion that the artistic style of speech is distinguished by its multi-style character. The translator's perception of stylistic means of the original text requires a comprehensive analysis of the writer's idiostyle at all levels of the language – phonetic, lexical, morphological and syntactic. The translation of stylistic means into the recipient language can be achieved through the use of: a) equivalents and analogues; b) compensation techniques; c) descriptive translation.
