Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we aim to analyze, from a theoretical perspective, a new regulation adopted in the spirit of protectionist consumer law, namely Law No. 243/2024 on consumer protection regarding the total cost of credit and the assignment of claims. In order to outline some general guidelines for the interpretation and application of the law in question, we will attempt to discern the legal nature and identify the conditions under which judicial review can operate as a means of balancing credit agreements concluded with consumers, while also observing how this regulation seeks to give effect to the principle of favor contractus.
