Summary/Abstract: The pandemic crisis represented a global challenge, without borders. The world faced an unprecedented infodemic, as the restrictive measures applied at the national and international level fueled the need for people to take refuge in the online space, where they were exposed to an avalanche of information propagated for manipulative purposes. However, exposure to misinformation and fake news changes individual perception and decision, from trivial or controversial issues such as vaccines or global warming to electing leaders of small communities or great world leaders. The consequences of misinformation are among the most serious, such as ignoring official health advice and engaging in risky behaviors. And the pandemic infodemic put the traditional media in difficulty, which had to argue and combat the huge wave of misinformation that put people's health and lives at risk.
