A BELIEF AT THE INTERSECTION OF UFO RELIGIONS, NEOLIBERALISM, AND KEMALISM: THE COSMIC NARRATIVE OF THE KNOWLEDGE BOOK

Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes The Knowledge Book, published by the World Brotherhood Union Mevlana Supreme Foundation, within the framework of UFO religions, investigating its belief system’s discursive connections with Kemalism and neoliberalism through a critical textual analysis. The Knowledge Book positions itself as a continuation of the sacred canon, claiming to have been dictated by extraterrestrial beings, and redefines the concept of God through the notions of “cosmic consciousness” and “universal energy.” At the same time, it seeks to construct a spiritual yet modern epistemology by incorporating key elements of UFO religions, such as Esotericism, Scientism, and Millenarianism. One of the defining characteristics that differentiates this belief system from other UFO religions worldwide is its integration of Islam, Kemalism, and neoliberalism into UFO discourse. Atatürk is presented as a spiritual figure, a universal leader, and the central figure of cosmic transformation. Additionally, the ideology promoted in the book aligns with neoliberal individualism by emphasizing that individuals are entirely responsible for their own fate. In this context, the study examines how The Knowledge Book establishes an ethos as a text that aims to merge traditional beliefs with modern technology and explores the sources of its belief system.
