Summary/Abstract: The aim of the publication is to present and analyze the situation of Slovaks in Czechoslovakia between the two world wars, fueling the tension between the two main nationalities of the Central European state. It examines various factors demonstrating the factual situation of Slovaks as a minority, despite their presentation as a major partner in the common Czech-Slovak state. In the context of relations between Czechs and Slovaks, other large minority groups influencing the overall policy of Prague on the issue of Slovak autonomy are also examined.
