Summary/Abstract: General Ivan Marinov is a prominent figure in the military and political circles of Bulgaria in the mid-20th century. He participated in the wars for national unification and during the Second World War he was a divisional commander, аt first of the Sixth Bdin Division and later of the Fifteenth Ohrid Division. He served as Minister of Defence in Konstantin Muraviev's government and on 9th of September 1944 he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Bulgarian Army. In the late 1940s he attracted operational interest from State Security, which intensified in the early 1950s, leading to the creation of a Reporting Observation file titled "DIPLOMAT" and his inclusion in the collective investigation "Trumanites". The gathered reports and agent material did not provide grounds for criminal proceedings and General Marinov was removed from observation
