Summary/Abstract: The text examines the shift in the director’s role in 21st-century auteur cinema, tracing the transition from aesthetic and ideological resistance to an evolutionary, reflexive stance towards tradition. The aim is to outline the characteristics of the new author’s consciousness, in which the individual handwriting becomes a means of dialogue with the film canon and the cultural context of modernity.
