Summary/Abstract: This article examines the transformations of documentary cinema in the poly-screen era through an overview of theoretical analyses, introducing post- and para-indexicality as key to describing the new regimes of authenticity. The exploration demonstrates that digital platforms and virtual formats do not negate but rather reconfigure documentary testimony, shifting the focus from the static “trace” toward dynamic relations among image, platform, and viewer. Thus, the documentary can be understood as a media regime of reconfigurable truth.
