Motivation of the acts of minors perpetrators of theft

Summary/Abstract: The significant criminal activity of juvenile offenders, the need to optimize police activities to uncover their acts, and the need to improve their penitentiary and probation treatment determine the relevance of studying their motivation. The aim of this empirical study is to investigate the specifics of the motivation of juvenile perpetrators of theft. The hypotheses of the study registered the homogeneity of the perpetrators' motivation, its different types and the interaction between them. We carried out the empirical verification of the hypotheses with the verbal questionnaires for measuring the motivation for success and failure of T. Ehlers, the Schubert questionnaire for diagnosing readiness for risk and the self-portrait of needs and intentions of W. Stern. The studied sample included 30 juvenile offenders serving probation sentences.
