Summary/Abstract: The publicist and jurist Milton G. Lehrer (1906–1969) is known to the Romanian public almost exclusively as the author of the volume in which he warmly show support for the Romanian cause regarding the return of the northern half of Transylvania - which had just been eliberated from Hungarian occupation, by Romanian and Soviet troops. An ethnic Jew born in the United States of America, Milton G.Lehrer, was settled down in interwar Romania with his family at a young age. He became both a victim of the anti-Semitic persecutions after 1938 and of the repressive measures undertaken by the communist Securitate. These were due both to his patriotic views and his sympathy for the democratic politician Iuliu Maniu, as well for his past Zionist activity. Monitored by the Securitate from 1951 to 1969 and on the point of being arrested on New Year's Eve 1959, Milton Lehrer died in Bucharest. Until the end of his life, he remained a supporter of Romania’s interests on the international stage.
