Summary/Abstract: The study presents an iconographic analysis of the relief of the Lamentation of Christ from the All Saints Church in Pilsen within the context of the late medieval system of relations between personal and collective religious experience and its ecclesiastical regulation. Considering the commissioner of the work, the Teutonic Knights, it questions the extent to which the iconography of the Pilsen Lamentation reflected theological disputes related to the Eucharist, the authority of the Church, and the status of priests. The study concludes with a reflection on the local context of the iconography, particularly in relation to the position of the parish holder – the Teutonic Order – at a time when pro-reform efforts were gaining momentum in Pilsen.
