Summary/Abstract: In the connection of the Transylvanian Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic Churches there were frequent disputes and misunder¬standings during their three hundred years history. The Transylvanian rite-controversy in its particular manifestation and in its historical development is quite unique. It has taken shape during the centuries in a way unparalleled inmost of the other nations’ history. The differences and disputes originating from changing rites however proved to be not unfruitful. In spite of the fact that the individuals in question experienced the rite-controversy closely, risking their dignity and personal liberty, the Transylvanian rite-controversy improved the legislation regarding changes of the rite within the Catholic Church with such assets which had originated from these bitter experiences. We might say that the Transylvanian solution serves an example for the universal Church.
