Summary/Abstract: The article examines Soviet practices of counteracting neocolonial discourse and the main narratives of the Western bloc propaganda during the Cold War period in the sphere of national policy using the example of feature cinema as one of the most effective instruments of propaganda. Building on archival materials, published sources, and materials of Soviet and American periodicals, the article analyzes the organizational and production system of the Soviet film industry in order to identify key narratives of Soviet feature films produced by central and republican film studios. The findings demonstrate the high effectiveness of the created organizational and production system in developing national cinematographies. An analysis of plot and imagery representation in Soviet feature films reveals several key plots aimed at creating the image of a national hero in historical films and reinforcing the narrative of unity and brotherhood of Soviet peoples, their common Motherland, and the significant achievements of the Soviet system.
