Summary/Abstract: The classification of electoral law principles contributes to the definition of a clear hierarchical system, considering the diversity of approaches in the specialized literature. These principles, although formally enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and national legislation, require a more rigorous systematization within the Electoral Code to strengthen the normative foundation of the electoral process. Fundamental to a democratic, fair, and transparent electoral process, these principles ensure equal opportunities for candidates, respect for voters’ rights, and the strengthening of public institutions’ representativeness. Although there is no unanimous consensus regarding their classification, the diversity of opinions provides opportunities for legislative improvement and the consolidation of the electoral process’ s legitimacy.
