Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the administrative and legal status of refugees and internally displaced persons in the Republic of Moldova, against the background of the challenges of international migration and recent crises, such as the Russia-Ukraine War. Increased population mobility has highlighted legislative and administrative gaps in the management of these vulnerable categories. The Republic of Moldova has adopted a legislative framework harmonized with international standards, based on the 1951 UN Convention and the 1967 Protocol. Law no. 270/2008 on asylum provides refugees with fundamental rights, including protection against forced return (non-refoulement principle), access to education, medical services and social integration. However, difficulties are noted in the practical application of these regulations, including in the integration process and ensuring living conditions. National authorities, through the General Inspectorate for Migration and Asylum, are responsible for processing applications and protecting refugees. The article stresses the need to modernize legislation, strengthen institutional capacities and ensure effective protection for refugees and internally displaced persons.
