Summary/Abstract: This study explores the use of visual stimuli in polygraph examinations, a method with broad applicability in investigating various types of serious crimes. The testing involved presenting images representative of crime circumstances, such as the crime scene, objects used, or individuals involved, offering a non-verbal alternative to traditional verbal questioning. The results demonstrated increased psychophysiological reactivity to visual stimuli compared to verbal methods, due to the faster cognitive processing and the direct emotional impact of images. This method suggests a potential complement to classical polygraph techniques, particularly useful in cases involving language barriers, difficulties in verbal communication, or risks of cognitive manipulation of responses. At the same time, the research highlights the limitations of using visual stimuli, such as memory distortions or external influences that may affect the interpretation of reactions. This study contributes to the development of a hybrid methodology that combines visual and verbal elements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of criminal investigations, adapting international practices to local needs.
