Summary/Abstract: The article publishes materials of archaeological research conducted in 2019—2024 in the territory of Eastern Jetisu. Excavations of burial monuments were carried out, new clusters of petroglyphs were recorded. As a result of the work, important information was obtained about the ethnocultural characteristics of the nomads of the late Saka period. Modern data show that in the 4th — 3rd centuries BCE, nomads of the Kulazhorgin culture of Eastern Kazakhstan appeared in the region, who interacted with the local Saka tribes. On their basis, a community was formed that occupied an intermediate position between the tribes that settled in Kokentau and Ile Alatau. Their contacts with the Hellenistic culture, which were reflected in the appearance of a unique image of an archer, date back to the same period. The totality of the data obtained makes it possible to reconstruct important processes that took place on the eve of serious ethnic and political regroupings associated with the Xiongnu-Yuezhi wars in the 2nd century BCE.
