Summary/Abstract: The archaeological site of Ardeu “Cetățuie” is situated in the southwestern region of Transylvania, in the village of the same name, located in the commune of Balșa, Hunedoara County. The site consists of three components: the “Cetățuie” Hill, the eastern plateau situated at the foothills, named “Dealul Judelui”, and the southern terraces located in the area known as “Gura Cheilor”, at the base of “Cetățuie”, in its south-western sector. In the northern and western region, a section of gorges is formed by the “Valea Ardeului” water course, which surrounds the steep slopes of the hill. Its settlement phases span several historical eras. So far, diverse archaeological items have been discovered, although the majority date from the Dacian Kingdom period. Nevertheless, the settlement’s beginnings date back to prehistory, from the Middle/Late Chalcolithic Era (Bodrogkeresztúr Culture and Coțofeni Culture), with items belonging to the Cultural Group Șoimuș, Wietenberg Culture and Gáva Culture throughout the Bronze Age, namely in the Early, Middle and Late Ages, but also to the Gáva Culture in the Early Iron Age. The settlement is also attested in the Dacian Kingdom Era, in the Roman, Post-Roman Eras, and in the Early and Late Middle Ages. The purpose of this paper is to present the recently discovered bronze pin at Ardeu during the 2024 research campaign. The analysis of the item had taken into account the discoveries of pins of this kind from Transylvania and from the adjoining areas.
