Summary/Abstract: The theme chosen for the presentation refers to the interval between 1853 and 1878, representing a period when the mobility of people was increasingly higher and easier. The development of the means of transportation that used the technological innovations of the time, such as the steam engine, facilitated the movement of goods and people. The steamers belonging to the Austrian river transport companies provided regular trips along the Danube or the railway connecting Cernavodă and Constanța, across Dobruja, and offered the region new development opportunities. These means of transportation were also used by the travellers who arrived in the area, and the routes diversified. The way people organized their itineraries has always been a hot topic, and it is interesting to see this in a period of transformation of the region between the Danube and the Black Sea. In addition, almost all of the travellers who passed through the area left us testimonies about the means of transportation used, the duration, or even the comfort of the trip, being able to distinguish both voices satisfied with the conditions of the region and voices dissatisfied with either the natural or technological conditions.
