The Treaty of June 9, 1598, in the Romanian Historiography

Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the historiography surrounding the Treaty of Târgoviște, signed on June 9, 1598. Our goal is to determine the main research directions pursued by historians. The reason we adopted this scientific approach is the need to create a systematic analysis that highlights the perspectives put forward by Romanian historians regarding the Treaty of June 9, 1598. It is even more important to draw a limit on the research directions to create an image of those aspects that have not been studied yet. In other words, we want to highlight the aspects that the specialized literature has not delved into. Although the literature dedicated to the subject is quite vast, most historians analyze the text from a single perspective (the Wallachian one). We believe that an analysis from Rudolf II's perspective is also necessary.This paper examines the historiography surrounding the Treaty of Târgoviște, signed on June 9, 1598. It is even more important to establish boundaries for research directions to create a clear picture of the aspects that have not been studied yet. In other words, we want to highlight the aspects that the specialized literature has not delved into. Although the literature dedicated to the subject is quite vast, most historians analyze the text from a single perspective (the Wallachian one). We believe that an analysis that looks at things from the perspective of Rudolf II is also necessary.
