Summary/Abstract: The manipulative communication style, characterized by covert influence and indirect control, can have a significant impact on socio-emotional dynamics. The present study investigates the relationship between this communication style and variables such as cooperation, emotional attachment, networking, conflict management, self-evaluation and persuasion. Using the non-parametric Spearman correlation test, the analysis was performed on a relevant sample, exploring both positive and negative relationships. The results highlight significant negative correlations between the manipulative style and cooperation (-0.18, p < 0.05) and emotional attachment (-0.22, p < 0.01), suggesting an inversely proportional relationship in which the prevalence of manipulation destroys trust and authentic emotional bonds. On the other hand, the manipulative style correlates positively with variables such as networking (0.19, p < 0.05), conflict management (0.16, p < 0.05), self-evaluation (0.16, p < 0.05) and persuasion (0.23, p < 0.01), leading to the strengthening of the capacity for social influence. These results highlight a paradox of manipulative communication: although it contributes to the development of strategic social skills, such as persuasion and networking, it undermines authentic interpersonal relationships. The study has practical implications for understanding the dynamics of social interactions and offers useful perspectives for educational interventions and psychological counseling, in order to improve relationships based on authenticity and trust.
