Summary/Abstract: This article explores the development of intercultural competence in foreign language classes, with a specific focus on Romanian as a foreign language. While the paper is largely theoretical, it presents key theories on culture shock and intercultural competence. The latter part of the article highlights practical activities used in Romanian language and culture (RLS) classes. These activities can be implemented across various proficiency levels, with an emphasis on cultural understanding and, secondarily, on developing other skills such as communication. The article aims to underscore the significance of intercultural competence and propose effective strategies for its development.
