Gustav Landauer and Prefigurative Politics

Summary/Abstract: Gustav Landauer assumed that the state has itssource in social relations. Consequently, the re-alization of the anarchist ideal would be possiblethrough the creation of new and alternative socialinstitutions, as well as social relations at the grass-roots level, along with care for the coherence ofmeans and ends. This indicates some similaritieswith prefigurative politics, which leads to article’sthesis, that the strategy proposed by the Germanthinker was based on the assumptions charac-terizing the conception of prefigurative politics.For this reason, the purpose of this article is toanalyze and show some similarities between thesetwo approaches.
