Representation of Belarusian-Polish Relations as a Source of Justification of the Status Quo: A Study of the Soviet Press after Stalin

Summary/Abstract: The following text attempts to critically reflect onthe tradition of using history for political purposesin the Soviet Union. Based on extensive researchin the post-Stalinist press, it analyses the ways inwhich the theme of the history of Belarusian-Pol-ish relations was emphasized. The focus was onone single motive – the motive of using the drawnimage to justify the then geopolitical status quo,namely, Russia’s domination over Belarus.
