Summary/Abstract: Collective labour relations are an essential pillar of labour law, and their balanced regulation requires, beyond the will of the parties, an effective regulatory framework and functional institutional mechanisms. This article looks at the main instruments of social dialogue – with a focus on the collective bargaining agreement and collective industrial conflict – and highlights the central role of conciliation in managing disagreements between employers and employees. In a legislative context strengthened by Law 367/2022 on social dialogue, conciliation would not only precede strike action, but also offer a pragmatic and constructive alternative to legal disputes. As a form of amicable dispute resolution, conciliation helps to maintain a climate of institutional co-operation, reduce tensions and protect the image of the parties involved. The study underlines the importance of the good faith application of this procedure as an expression of social maturity in labour relations.
