Summary/Abstract: The idea of this study stems from the necessity of deepening the understanding of the specific relationship between politicians and intellectuals during times of crisis, in complex political contexts, and under authoritarian regimes. The intellectuals from Dimitrie Gusti’s School (also known as the Bucharest Sociological School) were actively involved in research and social reform and generally adopted a strategy of avoiding direct political engagement. This was a conscious choice, influenced by several factors, including the desire for scientific objectivity. The collapse of Gustian sociology in 1939, when the Social Service Law was abolished, was, in fact, a repositioning of the intellectuals in Gusti’s entourage. As a research method, I will use documentary analysis, examining the content of scientific documents and articles published about Gusti’s School. My starting premise is that the mode of collaboration between the intellectuals of the Gustian School and the political elite under various authoritarian regimes (Carlist, National Legionary) was a constant throughout the studied period, aimed at ensuring the relevance and continuity of their activities.
