Summary/Abstract: In the crypts of the Basilica of the Valley of the Fallen (Valle de los Caídos) near Madrid lie the remains of almost 34,000 victims of the Spanish Civil War. And while work on the exhumation of bodies is underway, the government of socialist Pedro Sánchez is trying to transform the sacred space into an educational center.
