Summary/Abstract: Dimitar Chorbadzhiyski – Chudomir (1890–1967) is a famous Bulgarian artist and writer who lives and works in the province — the town of Kazanlak. This is atypical for almost all influential artists of his generation, who, as a rule, settled in the capital — the city of Sofia. For this reason, in Chudomir’s work and public behavior, the capital/province theme is multi-layered and interpreted differently from the majority of his fellow artists. The article highlights the main points of the humorist’s assessment of life in the capital. His tendency to idealize provincial everyday life is pointed out. In his cultural activity as a museum specialist, educator, and public figure, Chudomir does not underestimate the opportunities for work in the small town. It operates in a manner consistent with the highest national standards. Thus, due to his strong influence and great popularity, the capital/province axis is canceled and rendered meaningless, and his work even acquires international significance.
