Summary/Abstract: This study provides new insights into the exploitation of animal resources by Eneolithic communities from the Alba Iulia - Lumea Nouă settlement. The analyzed sample originates from a closed archaeological feature in which ceramic fragments attributed to the Foeni cultural group were discovered. Additionally, radiocarbon (¹⁴C) dating confirms the chronological placement of the feature in the Early Eneolithic period. The analysis reveals that large cattle were the primary domestic species supplying animal protein, although goats and domestic pigs were also present. Wild mammal species such as deer, roe deer, wild boar and boar are present in the sample, but in small proportions. These findings suggest that animal husbandry was the predominant subsistence strategy practiced by the Foeni cultural group, aimed at securing both primary and secondary animal products.
