Summary/Abstract: Zambaccian’s fiercest competitor at the time, in artistic acquisitions, was Leon Laserson. Very little known today, the art collector contributed, through his action, to an important effort to support Romanian art. His collection, made according to his taste and flair, was a set of cultural goods, very desirable, which the Romanian state lost in the first instance. More than 30 years followed in which the history of collecting took a complex turn, highly organized by ideology and centralized cultural policies, so that at the end of it, the works of art enriched with new layers of individual histories, became the property of the state Romanian. The article is an approach to historical recovery, with a short excursion of methodological work in terms of working with the history of museum objects.
