Summary/Abstract: During the long-term archaeological research of the ancient Colonia Ulpia Escus (near the village of Gigen, Pleven region), important results were obtained for the history, fortification system, planning and life of this remarkable city. Several places where drinking water supply facilities were present were mentioned in the area of Escus. An ancient water supply system running E-W is observed on the terrain, which has a preserved length in this section of 35 – 40 m and is preserved in height up to 2.5 – 3 m. It is built of medium-sized broken stones, a brick belt and fragmented building ceramics, bonded with mortar. In this section, it is located under the ridge of the slope – north and follows an east-west direction, then heads south towards the village of Iskar. The arcades when bridging the ravine have been preserved. Parts of the water supply system are also observed in the land of the village of Iskar, and unfortunately not all of them are preserved in the village itself. 4.5 km north of the village of Slavovitsa, in the Kyosova Vodenitsa area, preserved sectors of the ancient water supply system to the Colony of Ulpia Escus can be observed. The construction method and parameters are the same as those at the village of Gigen, with the direction here being N – S. The water supply system is also traced in the land of the village of Orehovitsa, where 4 km south of it – in the Tsarevets area, was most likely the water source that supplied the facility supplying Ulpia Escus with drinking water. The route of the water supply system should pass through the lands of the aforementioned villages in the S – N direction (to the right of the Iskar River), making a bend to the east approx. 2 km from Ulpia Escus, avoiding the swampy terrain south of the Colony. Most likely, it entered the territory of the city from the east, where there is information that clay pipes from the ancient era have been found.
