Summary/Abstract: The article examines the internal migration processes from the city of Stara Zagora to the village of Ostra Mogila, outlining different models of relocation from the city to the village and the permanent settlement in it. It presents migration as a comprehensive socio-cultural process in which the connection with the city is preserved. The analysis traces the motives for relocation, the transformations it leads to, the various life models of the process participants and the socio-cultural interactions between locals and newcomers. The study shows that the process of counterurbanization depends on the city and the preferences of urban residents, all united by the search for a “better life”. In the cases examined, there is no contradiction between expectations and reality, since the respondents do not try to create economically sustainable ventures in the context of the post-productivist transition in rural areas. Migration processes are dynamic and their overall impact has yet to be assessed and analyzed.
