Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to shed light on the perception of family life and whether or not children attend classes in religious education in relation to the religiosity, dominance of the external/internal locus of control and intercultural sensitivity of primary school children. To this end we sampled 199 children from the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades of public primary schools in the City of Zenica and the Sveti Pavao Catholic Education Centre. These were random samples, in which we sought to achieve a balance of gender, age and attendance or non-attendance, and the sample also took into account whether the schools were public/state or confessional. In the theoretical part of the study, when making arrangements for the survey, we referred to some of the most relevant theoretical concepts in this field, such as Bennett’s developmental model of intercultural sensitivity, Banks’s levels of integration of multicultural content, the tradition of locus of control research, and the systematic and transgenerational approach to understanding the family. Using these tools, we sought to observe (possible) differences between pupils in the light of gender and attendance or non-attendance at religious education classes, as well as to determine the relationship between (natural) religiosity and the level of intercultural sensitivity to family circumstances. Finally, the most significant factor for assessing the externality of the locus of control, religiosity and intercultural sensitivity, family circumstances and an assessment of the prevailing logic of family behaviour, which shifted the focus of the study from the institutional and instrumentalized to a description of some of the determinants of family culture.
