Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the work of Aleksandra Jaskólska – a director of biological and educational films produced at the Educational Film Studio in Łódź – through the lens of contemporary environmental humanities and hydrofeminist theory. The author demonstrates how such films as O wodzie, roślinie i szparkach (On Water, Plants, and Stomata, 1956), Tardigrada (Niesporczaki, 1968), or Trzy razy Ewa (Three Times Eve, 1963) intertwine biological themes, the aesthetics of microscopic imagery, and educational form with reflections on the body, gender, and interspecies relations. The text draws on the contexts of the history of science, educational cinema, and cultural criticism, with a particular emphasis on the role of women in film and scientific production systems of the Polish People’s Republic. Special attention is given to water as a cinematic and epistemological medium, as well as to animation as a tool for conceptualising life. The author proposes a new perspective on educational films as forms of speculative visual thinking, where science and art are interwoven with the politics of representation.
