Summary/Abstract: Between 1940 and 1943, Lieutenant Colonel Witold Światopełk-Mirski was ac-tively engaged in the underground ZWZ–AK movement in the Vilnius region, in-cluding the formation of territorial structures and partisan units. He also served inthe Home Army’s intelligence service in eastern Belarus, where he infiltrated firsta Belarusian, and subsequently a Russian, collaborationist formation serving theGermans. Following his capture by the Soviets in August 1943, he was deported toMoscow and sentenced to many years in the gulags, from which he was releasedand returned to Poland in 1955.
