Summary/Abstract: In my research I am looking at institutions that help disadvantaged children through the medium of music education. In this study I examine the Maltese Symphony Programme, taking into account both professional and human factors. I used a qualitative method and conducted semi-structured interviews with the mentor music teachers of the programme. I used the qualitative data analysis software MAXQDA to objectively analyse the responses, allowing me to quantify the data. The results show that an understanding environment, special attitudes and treatment are crucial for the success of the children. In addition, the use of specific methodology is key to children’s development.
