Summary/Abstract: The Council of Nicaea, held in 325, unified the ideas of Christians, excluded the theses of Arius, declaring them a heresy, and adopted the Creed. More importantly, however, church and state entered into an alliance for the first time, with religion politically legalizing the state and its ruler, Constantine. This system of symbiosis between church and state would persist for centuries until the bourgeois revolutions. The modern global and technological world, populated by societies with ever-changing mores and new concepts (of transhumanism, artificial intelligence, same-sex marriage), is currently torn by conflicts – not only between Christians and not only political. There is a vacuum of values, morals, and beliefs. Problems, disagreements, and questions are increasing, and answers seem unattainable. The figure of Constantine is missing, state and church do not exist in the same symbiosis, but religion has not yet lost its role. The world desperately needs a new “Council of Nicaea”.
