Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on one of the notable trends in the development of recent Belarusian dramaturgy, conventionally labelled as the ‘theatre of inner emigra tion.’ This trend stands alongside two others – the ‘theatre-barricade’ (exemplified by performances like Gloomy Sunday and Dogs of Europe by Belarus Free Theatre, as well as plays like Offended. Belarus by Andrei Kureichik and Happy Birthday, Beloved! / From Russia with Love by Diana Balyko) and the ‘theatre of conformism’ (plays by Vlada Olhovskaya staged at Yanka Kupala Theatre). The ‘theatre of inner emigration’ trend is examined through the plays by Konstantin Steshyk from various years, collected in the anthology ‘Leteli kacheli’ (Moscow: Gorodets, 2024). Manifestations of ‘inner emigration’ are analysed by looking at the significant topoi that shape the artistic structure of these plays, such as the protagonist, the conflict, and the chronotope, the significance of which is substantiated in the article.
