Summary/Abstract: This paper examines human’s ambivalent position as both creator and slave of technology. Departing from the thesis that technology – though a product of human creativity – has evolved into an autonomous force escaping control and reshaping society, individuality, and daily life, the study employs a sociological approach to analyze socio-humanistic characteristics of life in highly technologized societies. With particular emphasis on alienation, rationalization, and the loss of critical consciousness, the analysis draws on theoretical frameworks by thinkers such as Giddens, Ritzer, Marx, and Weber. The paper further discusses the technology’s dual role in establishing desirable social relations while simultaneously undermining human freedom and purpose.
