Summary/Abstract: The Paulicians people were recognized by historiography as a religious and social movement and a strong community with an identity detached throughout history. Bulgarian Pavlichians arrived in Bucharest after a journey of centuries thru out Balkans territory, drawing away from Armenia the banks of the Euphrates to Bulgaria and then passing thru the Danube in Romania. In Bulgaria, grouped into distinct communities, they are known as Pavlichians ( Pavlikians în armenian language) meaning Paulicians, and inhabit this region both the old Philippopollis fortress, Plovdiv and in the north of Bulgaria, on the Svisthov – Nikopole near by Danube areas. For over a millennium, the Pavlichians have maintained their traditions and values transmitted by the leaders of the communities. In the fourteenth century, the conversion missions undertaken by the Papal Missionaries found support in many of the Pavlichian communities that joined Catholicism. After joining the Catholicism, they named Catholic Pavlichians and then, in the ninths century their name was changed in Catholic Bulgarians. This change hiding their identity as the same within the Bulgarians.
