Summary/Abstract: In an increasingly complex world, mental health represents a global challenge of significant proportions. This article is a dissemination report of doctoral research results. It explores mental health literacy (MHL) disparities and their impact on active prevention, highlighting a unique multi-ethnic and multicultural context in Romania, the Dobrogea region. Using a structural equation model (SEM) on a sample of 182 participants (N=182), the study investigates how socioeconomic status (SES), social and family support (SFS), discrimination (D), and stigmatization (S) interconnect to shape mental health literacy (MHL). The study results demonstrate that SES directly and indirectly (through SFS) influences MHL, while discrimination and stigmatization act as significant barriers, negatively and simultaneously affecting both knowledge and proactive attitudes and behaviors. Furthermore, SFS plays a protective role, mitigating the negative impact of discrimination and stigmatization. These study findings ultimately underscore the need for personalized and culturally-sensitive interventions, focused on reducing social inequalities and combating stigma, to promote effective active prevention and reduce mental health disparities.
