Summary/Abstract: The analysis in this article focuses on drug use in prison, from a comparative and international perspective, addressing multiple dimensions of the phenomenon. The included studies reflect contexts from countries such as the USA, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Norway, the Russian Federation, Iran, Indonesia or Ethiopia, providing a representative picture of global trends. The chapter aims to highlight both the extent of use, as well as its causes, introduction practices, enabling factors and consequences on public health, the functioning of penitentiary institutions and social reintegration.
