Summary/Abstract: The need to create dictionaries of the Belarusian non-normative, obscene, taboo language has long been a fact – this is the logical conclusion of the overallwork on the creation of dictionaries in general. The richness of the language ismanifested in all its diversity and in all spheres, including those where linguistsoften do not look because of outdated moral principles. The importance of sucha dictionary is to collect and codify words that are often not certified in linguisticsdue to artificial barriers. We are not talking about the propaganda of vulgar andobscene language, but. from a professional sociolinguistic point of view, thepurpose of this dictionary is to capture the language in its natural state – what itis, how Belarusians speak, and not what it should be in the imagination of differentpeople with different moral and ideological attitudes. Thus, when creatinga dictionary, two main approaches are taken into account – lexicographic andsociolinguistic.
