Summary/Abstract: Burnout represents a specific reaction of the body to stress, a complex disorder characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and decreased personal achievement, occurring in the context of chronic exposure to occupational stress. The article analyzes burnout from an integrative perspective, investigating the psychoneurological mechanisms involved, the imaging methods used in diagnosis, possible psychopharmacological interventions, and the potential for recovery through neuroplasticity. The neuroplastic potential of the brain is highlighted and how recovery is possible through integrative therapy – psychological, pharmacological and occupational – is analyzed.
