Summary/Abstract: Middle age represents a critical period for women, marked by biological changes-including perimenopause and menopause- as well as evolving social roles and cultural expectations. Research consistently highlights the physical, psychological, and sociocultural benefits of regular physical exercise for middle-aged women. This paper synthesizes findings from a bio-psycho-socio-cultural perspective, examining the mechanisms through which physical activity supports health by reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms, enhancing self-esteem, improving cognitive functioning, and promoting social well-being. Factors facilitating exercise engagement are also discussed within an integrative framework addressing biological, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions.
