Summary/Abstract: Pre-reading is that stage of the reception of the literary text that involves identifying a pre-text that establishes a network of connections with the text under study. Pre-reading outlines the context and conditions the appropriate climate for reading, analyzing and interpreting the literary text. This first stage is an invitation to the actual reading of the text.The present study deals with reading competence and its methodological reflections, addressing theories and good practices about the importance and necessity of the pre-reading stage of the literary text in the primary cycle.
