Summary/Abstract: This publication examines the psychological aspects of inclusion of preschool-aged children (3–7 years old) who are facing adverse life circumstances, and more specifically—those who have experienced a traumatic event or cumulative developmental trauma. The topic remains a matter of debate for two key reasons. First, there is a notable lack of a clear methodological and theoretical framework for the inclusion of children after traumatic experiences into the context of preschool education. Second, trauma by definition has the potential to alter psychological and behavioural functioning, as it is rooted in intensely negative emotional experiences and is often accompanied by a pervasive sense of threat and uncertainty.
