Summary/Abstract: In this article I want to analyze the main themes of Simona Sigartău`s poetry, through a feminist lens. The lyrical discourse highlights the difficulties of women in the contemporary period, when they want to have a balance between motherhood and professional life. Due to the patriarchal oppression it is very hard to achieve that balance and autonomy. I will use the concept of subaltern theorized by Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, to analyze how women are victims of a patriarchal system that promotes misogynistic ideas about how women should act or what they should endure. Furthermore, I will demonstrate how the lyrical writing of women has a therapeutic function for women, by expressing their traumatic experiences and gender inequalities though poetry.
