Summary/Abstract: In post-war literature, despite censorship, there existed, alongside the official formula of socialist-realist literature—denominated after communism's fall as opportunistic literature, three other forms that sought to undermine it. Horia Lovinescu's case is illustrative of the artist's condition who oscillates between subordination and insurgency toward the political system, who, fearing, in most instances, to risk, created texts that were acclaimed then and stigmatized post-December, while, when he found the courage to clothe truth in parables and allegories, he created artistic works resistant to post-December evaluation.
