Summary/Abstract: The Romanian language, a Romance language of the Indo-European family, often presents specific difficulties for French speakers, despite their linguistic kinship, at all levels: phonetic, orthographic, lexical and grammatical. This affinity, based on the Latin heritage, can be both an advantage and, equally, a trap. The present work study started from the findings made by our students, French speakers, who came to Romania to study and were forced to enter inside the mysteries of our language. Therefore, we propose, in the following, a review of the main challenges encountered by the French speakers of the Romanian, comparing the aspects that particularize the two languages, apparently related.
